Warriors Eliminate Mavericks, Return to NBA Finals

Doncic's 36 Points Not Enough to Save Dallas

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) - Luka Doncic scored 20 points in the first quarter and finished with 36 for his playoff high, but it wasn't enough as the Dallas Mavericks were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night.

Mavs Fall Short of NBA Finals Berth

The Warriors won 120-110 to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2019. Stephen Curry led the way for Golden State with 23 points, while Klay Thompson added 21 and Draymond Green had 17.

Doncic, who averaged 31.8 points per game in the playoffs, was 12-of-25 from the field and 7-of-13 from three-point range. He also had 11 rebounds and eight assists.

The Mavericks took a 3-1 lead in the series after winning the first two games in Dallas, but the Warriors rallied to win the next three games and advance to the Finals.

Golden State will face the Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics in the Finals, which begin on Thursday, June 2.
